How's It Grown'?

Wow, how quickly time goes by! It is so hard for me to believe that my son is almost 3 1/2 years old and that my baby girl is 4 months already. They are both doing great. Camden has recently just gotten over a cold that he, unfortunately, had gotten from me, his mama.
With all the bitter, cold weather that we have been having it has been a great challenge to find things that we can do inside to keep Camden busy. We have colored, played Play-Do, painted, played games, and celebrated a birthday. Yep, that's right. We had a birthday party for Camden's imaginary friend, Be-a-bee. Now, I wasn't so sure about this, seeing as I don't want to encourage him to be a loner. But he interacts with other kids great and loves to play with his friends. But he can't seem to do much of anything when he is at home alone without Be-a-bee. Well, Camden informed me the other day that it was Be-a-bee's birthday and that we should have a Scooby-Doo birthday for him. So, we printed out some coloring pages of Scooby and Camden colored them. He then helped mama make a cake and then decorate it. I put some candles in and we sang "Happy Birthday" to his special friend. Here is a little scrapbook page I put together of his party. Camden's most recent achievement has been potty training. It was a totally crazy thing. He just woke up Monday morning, put on his big boy undies, and has been going every since. We have had a few accidents along the way, but all in all he is doing great! I still can not believe it. I actually called up my best friend who has two little ones in diapers and asked if she wanted a whole pack of diapers that haven't been opened. I just bought Camden's diapers last week, but I'm not too disappointed that we will not be using them. He is doing such an amazing job. Mommy bought him lots of special big boy undies yesterday as a little more incentive. He was so excited that he opened up the Scooby-Doo pack and put a pair on over the ones he already had on. What a cutie he is!

Little Miss Merci is doing amazing as well. She has discovered her voice this week and has been letting us know every day. She squeals with delight and laughs at her brother. It seems as though the newborn fussiness that we struggled with has subsided. She isn't as clingy and more of her personality is developing. We had a check-up with the Dr. earlier this month for her 4 month check-up. She is growing well, but she dropped a little on the weight chart. She had been in the 50% at her last well-visit. But at this one she dropped down to the 25%. The Dr. asked about her eating and how often she does. He then asked if I supplemented with formula at all. I have on occasion but on a regular basis I have not. So he recommended that I give her some formula each day to help fill her more. He wants me to continue to nurse her, but after feeding to offer a little formula and see how much she takes. In doing so since her appointment, she has taken to the formula well. She still nurses really good, but has a little formula in between. At most, in one day, she has taken a total of 12 ounces. Most days she only takes 3 or 4 ounces total. But I'm following what the Dr. said and she seems like she has gained more weight. He also said that when I was ready I could start her on cereal. I tried once, but by about the third night of giving it only in the evenings, she became very gassy. I believe it was because we also started the regular bottles in the same week. I stopped giving the cereal until she adjusted to having formula like she has (which we switched to the soy based formula because I believe now that it was the formula that was making her gassy). I will try giving her cereal at some point again in the near future. She enjoyed eating the cereal when I did give it to her. She smacks her lips when she watches us eat and acts as though she wants what we are eating. So I think she's about ready. The Dr. also said once she's been on the cereal awhile to go ahead and introduce the fruits and veggies. She is getting to be such a big girl. It's still hard for me to believe she is even here, apart of our family. God is so good and we are constantly thanking Him for such an amazing family of our own. We truly are blessed!!
Well, speaking of the lil' ones. Miss Merci is getting cranky and is ready for her morning nap. Camden also, should be waking for the day. So I am going to close for now. We hope that this finds you all doing well, as we surely are. Our love to you.

Photos

As I have promised, I have posted some pictures of the kids for all of you. I have found a way to post mulitple pictures without doing so many indiviually. This way you can see lots! I hope you all enjoy.

Camden's Been Tagged!

Three things......
that scare me: the surround sound noise at the beginning of DVD's, the light on my DVD player, and having to eat something I don't like
people that make me laugh: Daddy, Grandpa, and my cousin Josh
I love: my family, my CareBear and Mickey I sleep with, and chocolate milk
I hate: having to eat something I don't like, walking into a dark theater, and when the doggy trys to eat my food
I don't understand: why mommy and daddy say no, why i don't get my own way, and why boogers taste so good
on my desk: how 'bout dresser? TV, DVD Player, and CD player
I'm doing right now: sleeping, dreaming, and drooling
I want to do before I die: Grow another 3 feet, learn to read, and go to Chuck E Cheese's
I can do well: talk in full sentences, sing my ABC's and Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, and be a big brother
you should always listen to: Your mommy and daddy, Grandma and Grandpa, and the doggy
you should never listen to: Barney, those creapy colored things that dance around and talk funny on PBS (TelaTubbies), and infomercials
I'd like to learn how to do: how to spell, read, and ride a bike
favorite foods: pizza, chicken nuggets, and french fries
beverages I drink regularly: chocolate milk, strawberry milk, and juice
TV shows I watched as a kid: Blue's Clues, Go Diego Go, and Tom and Jerry
books I read as a kid: Goodnight Moon, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, and Noisey Friends

Quick Update

Well, after about 3 attempts at trying to upload pictures just to have my computer freeze, I've given up on trying to do some picture for ya'll. I guess I'll just have to give you a quick update on how the lil' ones are doing.

Christmas was great. Camden had a bit of a hard time understanding that it was not all about him like on his birthday. He thought that the whole day, all of every one's attention should be focused on him. Needless to say he got upset when we tried to control this in him. All in all though it was a great time for him. We bought him a little drum set for Christmas. He had been asking for months for drums. He absolutely loves it. Merci, of course, is too little to understand but she was as cute as ever. We all awoke Christmas morning and I made cinnamon rolls, like always. Mike and I drank our coffee while we sat on the floor and mainly watched Camden open all his presents. We then just spent the day home. It was enjoyable to spend time with our kids.

After the holiday rush, the stomach bug hit our family hard. It began with Michael and quickly spread not only through Camden down to Merci and I, but through all of our extended family that saw us that week. We have felt terrible that everyone has gotten sick. It was not a fun week to say the least, but this week has proven to be much better.

Camden is actually starting to spell. It sounds crazy, because he is only 3 years old, but I assure you it is true. He knows how to read the words; no, yes, and sit. We have flash cards with simple, first words on them and he is learning them already. It amazes me how much his mind retains. He truly is like a sponge.

Merci is now beginning to squeal and giggle. She is full of smiles all the time. I haven't quite gotten use to having a little one who is clingy. Camden was never clingy, but Merci tends to be when she gets fussy. Though I love it to some degree, it is defiantly a bit of a struggle at times during the day. She is also a little cat napper. This too is something new for me. But, all of that aside, we are adjusting to having two children quite well and they too are doing great.

I will try to post again ASAP and get some great pictures uploaded that I have taken. Until then, our love to you all.

This Creaky Old Chair

I wrote this poem one night last week while I was rocking my fussy little girl. I have this old, antique rocking chair that was given to my mother who in turn gave it to me when I got married. As I rocked her it just came to me. I am not a writer but yet this piece I am very proud of. I hope you enjoy

This creaky old chair is were we sit,
each time you start to cry.
We rock and we sway
and I sing in a way
that makes the time go by.

This creaky old chair is were we sit,
when I simply want to hold you.
I whisper a song
and we rock along
For this is what we do.

This creaky old chair is were we sit
and I think of how you are growing.
I shed a small tear,
Out of a mother's fear,
At how quickly the time is going.

This creaky old chair is were you'll sit
and rock your little ones too.
You'll sing and you'll sway,
And rock in a way.
Just like I did for you.
In this creaky old chair.

Lot's Of Growing Goin' On

Our little ones are growing so darn fast! I can not believe it! I look at Camden everyday and thing he is growing by the minute. Time just goes by way to quickly.

A couple of weeks ago, my dad happen to stop by and drop off the kids Christmas presents. They each got new winter hats. They are so darn cute! It is no surprise to me that both of my kids are photogenic. We took them to the mall the next day and I had to take their picture. I love Merci's smile in this one!

Some how in the process of snapping the pictures this one of Merci came out looking like she is ready to punch someones lights out. Mama said knock you out!

From the little baby boxer, to mommy's sweet little angel.

Camden had been well behaved the other day while I baked cookies with Auntie for Christmas. As a reward, Daddy told him he would bring home a treat from the store later that same night. Mike found this Batman mask from Halloween on clearance. Camden is now officially "BatBoy". He sat and watched his cartoons this morning wearing his official BatBoy mask. It was so cute.

This past Saturday Camden's best friend Noelle had her first "friends" party which of course Camden attended. Just before everyone started to arrive, the two of them were sitting watching some cartoon together. Noelle just decided to sit right on Camden's lap and it was so adorable.

It may be cute now, but in another ten years, this is not going to be happening!

As you can see, the kids are doing great. Merci is smiling and cooing a lot. It seems, she too, just changes by the minute. I have been watching her move so much, that I think she may roll over soon. She has such strong leg muscles and she pushes herself over to one side and almost rolls right over. She's not even three months yet! Camden is talking like such a grown up. It amazes me the things he puts together. We were at the dining room table having dinner the other night and he said something funny. We were all laughing and he just followed it up by saying "I crack myself up, I laughing my head off!" He's just too much.

We are looking forward to celebrating this Christmas sharing the love of Jesus with our children. Camden has as much of an understanding as any child his age about the holiday. He knows it is Jesus' birthday and that is why we celebrate. It helps that his best friend Noelle's birthday is right before. It makes explaining a little easier. We have told him just like celebrating Noelle's birthday, we celebrate Jesus' birthday. He seems to really understand. He's a smart one that boy!

Well, I will be sure to post lots of pictures after the festivities. May you all have a joyous Christmas and a very blessed New Year.

We Love You ALL!
MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Christmas Pictures

Well, my babies are growing like weeds! And what can I say, I'm a such a proud mama. I can not get over how quickly they grow. I see growth in both of my children daily. I love them both so much! Camden is becoming such a sweet little boy. Merci is just developing her personality more and more. Here are a few pictures I took of the kids for our Christmas cards, as well as more of Merci smiling away this morning. Our love to you all.

My Smiling Beauty

Merci has been changing almost daily. The greatest change has been her smiles. Here are a few picture I took of her last night just smiling away. The pictures go in progression of how she brings about her biggest grins.
The last one is the best one but it came out blurry because she moved.

The Love and Affections of a Big Brother

Oh, The Sleepless Nights!

I have now entered the realm of sleeplessness. My little princess has had mommy up most of the night for the past three nights. I love my little sweetie, but boy am I tired! I have no clue as to why, but she is going through this wanting to be held phase. I change her, feed her, and swaddle her then lay her down. Not 20 minutes later she is awake and fussing. The moment I pick her up she falls right back to sleep. If I continue to hold her she is fine but once I lay her down either immediately she wakes or just a short while later she does. Due to these sleepless nights I have decided that tonight she is going to her own room. I am not sure that this will solve or even help the problem but I figure it can not hurt to try. I love having her right next to me in her bassinet but if I am the reason that she is waking, because she senses me right next to her, then maybe being in her crib in her nursery will help.

Camden is, as usual, doing great! He is getting to be such a big boy. I see changes in him almost daily. He is getting really excited about Christmas. I have told him that we are going to need to make our Christmas list soon. I can not believe next weekend it will be time to put up our tree. He will have so much fun doing that with us this year. Speaking of my little man, he is now up from his nap so I should be scooting along. I'll be sure to post more next week after Thanksgiving. I'm sure I'll have lots of pictures to post. I will also have an update on Merci's measurements for ya'll seeing as she has a Dr.'s appointment on Tuesday (yippy, shot time). Until then, our love to you all.

Merci's Video

Pictures and Update

WOW! Where has the time gone? We have been so busy with not much of anything. Can you even be that busy? It sure seems as though we have.

The kids are doing GREAT! I can not brag enough about what great children we have. Merci is such a joy. She is just like her brother was, very content and not fussy at all. They say babies have a fussy time each day...not Merci. She is just so happy. She is now smiling and cooing. She was up at 5:00 a.m. this morning just laying there kicking her little feet and moving her hands cooing away. It truely amazes me how just a couple of weeks can change so much.

Camden has adjusted so well to being a big brother. It's almost as if nothing changed in his little world. He loves giving Merci hugs and mootches. I dressed them both up today for some pictures and all he could say about Merci was how much she looked like a princess. Which reminds me, I have caught myself calling Merci my little peanut. Well, I always call Camden that as well. He has quickly corrected me and informed me that Merci is not my little peanut that he is my little peanut and that Merci is my little princess. It was not at all a jelousey issue, it was that Merci has her own special name, not to be confussed with his. He's so darn smart that boy! We have been trying to teach him that certain words are not allowed and are unkind to say. Such as stupid and dumb or dummy. We a couple of times now he has caught me saying something was stupid or that I'm such a dummy about something. He quickly pipes in and says "Don't say that mama, that's a baaaad word". It is so hard not to want to laugh when he catches you. I love my son!

These couple of pictures are ones that I took of them today. The both have these adorable outfits that I know if I do not take their pictures in them soon that they will outgrow them. I am not real happy with the one of the two of them together. Merci began sqawking and didn't want any more pictures taken. This was the best one of the few I was able to get and even at that it's not a very good one. I love the ones of them individually. They both are very photogetic. I have so many pictures of them that I'm finding it hard to figure out a good way to display them all. Some day I will have a room that is my studio that I can display them all.

Three Weeks Already?

It is so hard to believe it has been three weeks already since having Merci. The days and weeks seem to fly by.

Today we had a visit from a nurse, complimentary of the county. I must say it was great because I did have a few questions, mainly breastfeeding questions. The nurse was young, around my age I'd say. Camden immediately began flirting. It was really cute and the nurse, Erica, got the biggest kick out of it. While here, she asked me a few questions as well as went over all my questions with me. She then took Merci's temp and weight (7 pds. 8 oz.) as well as listened to her chest and belly for normal breath and bowel sounds. She said that everything looked great and she seemed to be right with were she should be. She did seem a little surprised that her weight was the same as the Dr. said on Friday. She reassured me it was nothing to worry about that she would start really putting on the weight now that she has a good feeding schedule. I am really happy to know that we are doing the whole nursing thing correctly and that she is benefiting from it.

Well, that is about as much of an update as I have for now. I will try to post some new pics soon. Until then....

Growing Babies!

Both of our kids are growing like little weeds! Camden will have his official birthday in just two weeks. It is so very hard for me to believe that he will be three. It's also very hard for me to believe that Merci is two and half weeks old already. She is such a pretty baby!!

I took Merci in for her check in with the Dr. yesterday. Last Friday she was still only 6 pds. 13 oz and he wanted another weight check yesterday. After messing around with a young nurse who didn't have a clue as to what she was doing, the Dr. came in and checked her weight. She is now up to 7 pds. 8 oz. The Dr. seemed impressed with her weight gain and said whatever we are doing to keep doing it. He also said he can still see some jaundice in her but that it is clearing up. He said that breastfed babies tend to hang on to jaundice longer than bottle fed babies. I told him I thought she looked better than last week and he agreed. She is due to go back in two weeks for her one month check-up. Camden was actually do for his three year check-up at the same time so we got him too. Both kids will go in on Friday the 27th. It's nice that I was able to do that, saves me the extra trip.

Well, the kids Papa (my Dad) is due to be stopping in very soon, so I should go. Check back soon for pictures of both kids and our pumpkin carving that we are going to be doing tonight. Our love to all.

Brief Update

Our lil' kiddz are doing great!! Camden is adjusting to having a baby sister like any great big brother would. He is constantly offering his help, even when not needed. He is just a sweetie! Merci, too is adjusting wonderfully. Our nights are still a bit shaky, but we get through somehow still getting about 5-6 hours of sleep (total). I am so happy that breastfeeding is going great! Merci has done so well and I give her all the credit for it going as well as it is. She is waking on her own, both day and night, every 2-3 on the nose. She eats so well it still amazes me.

We did take Merci in on Friday for a "well-baby checkup" with Dr. Ucchino, our family doctor. Her weight is 6 pds. 14 oz. and her length, of course, was the same. The Dr. does want to see her again this week just to do another weight check. I believe it's because she's not back up to her birth weight yet. He also said she is jaundice but wasn't concerned about it. He told us as long as she was eating well and having both messy and wet diapers, it would run it's course. I think she looks better each day and her color is much more clear. I think she will be above and maybe a little beyond her birth weight by the next appointment.

So there is our brief update for now. I am sure we will have lot more to tell at a later time. Until then, so long from our clan to yours.

Baby Girl

Picture for all of you that I took today.
ENJOY!!

Here she is!
Our little sweetheart,
Merci Alexandra Kidd
Born: September 27th, 2006
Time: 11:40 a.m.
Weight: 7 pds. 0.3 oz.
Length: 21 inches

We are so blessed to have our little girl finally here with us. This week has been quite a blur. We are home now and settling in. Tonight will be our first night home and I look forward to starting our routine as a family of four. Merci is doing wonderful and is such a quiet, sweet little baby. Camden took to her quickly and insisted on giving lots of love to her. He will be a wonderful big brother, without a doubt. I will try to post a better update later on, on all that happened this week. I thought I would at least give you a little teaser. Thanks to everyone who was praying for both Merci and I and the rest of our family.

GO STEELERS!

Something New

Well, a little while back I decided that trying to keep two different blogs going of Camden and Merci was too hard. I have been keeping Merci's going but haven't done anything for Camden. Well, with Merci's birth so close I decided that in what little time I have before she gets here I'd come up with something for both of them. So this is our new site for "Our Lil' Kiddz". I plan on posting updates and pictures of both kids here together. Once everyone is aware I will no longer post updates on Merci's blog but here instead. I know this will be much easier for myself as well as all of you to not have to go back and forth between two sites. Thanks so much for understanding. Our love to you all.
